One of the problems I keep running into with my vibe coding is access to my own content on platforms.
I've always had good archiving hygiene : I write my long form in my own notes, and then copy and paste on the platform to publish (I really get mildly alarmed when I see people writing directly on the substack editor), and I backup my content at least once a month. Which means, at all times, there are at least 3 copies of my work, in 3 different places.
But short form is different.
You don't write a tweet or a substack note right ? You shoot it directly there. Neither do you save your replies to a safe place you can browse. It's a shame really because I've come to realise how much of my process starts in those shoots.
This wouldn't matter much if it was just a case of archiving.
But I view this as context. The perfect context for an AI to help me push myself further in my writing and production.
If you're a seasoned dev, you might be smirking at my problems. And to you I say : first, I'm really a non-technical person with an AI. I'm using those projects as a way into your technical world, to understand it better, and get the magical benefits that you enjoy. Second, I'm cheap and lazy AF.
I do not conceive of relying on a costly API just to get my own tweets into a database I own. Nor do I want this to be another task to add to my monthly cleanup.

One simple solution would be to get me into the same habit of writing my own stuff someplace else before publishing it. I don't think this is a good thing at all because of the shooting thing. Actually, I kind of tried and it's just.. not ideal for most uses. I build myself a 'tweet inbox', a place where I can tweet stuff to no one, without opening the app, and then just copy and paste to twitter when I'm in the right environment. It's ok. But it doesn't cover the conversation, which are where the nice bits are hidden.
Another simple solution would be to do the reserve : copy and paste my stuff over to my notes when I publish something. Yes. This has only the major downside of being easy to forget. But at least I save SOME archive.
Which is what I ended up doing for now.
But it's INFURIATING - why isn't there some sort of RSS for all social media profiles ? by default ?
