When I talk about my little vibe-coded tools, I always think about what a dweeb I must come across as to someone who IS technical. I hear the smirks of those people who don’t find beginner’s elation endearing. And it pushes me to add that I don’t know what I’m doing and apologise.
This time, let me take another approach. Let me say how NICE it is not to have a clue about what’s possible and what’s considered hard.
I don’t care about this. All I care about is making a tool that’s mine, that I like, that I will use, and that will bring me whatever I want it to bring me. And in this consideration, I find that the non-technical has a major advantage : they can ask whatever they truly need without being immediately burden by the realities of details.
In matters I know more of, I yearn to gain back some of that naivety. I yearn to have the hope of someone making their first YouTube video. To have the vision of someone about to sell their first product. Someone who just fell in love for the first time. You remember those feelings?
And it’s also not just a matter of hope, it’s also a matter of accepting the most simple solution because it doesn’t look too simple to me.
I don’t know. I actually have no idea if my canvas connected to my idea is that impressive. I find it impressive because it’s exactly the way I want it, and I’ve never found a tool like this one before. But what do I know? I’m just a nontechnical person to whom the world has suddenly given a magical technical assistant.
Some of that is already starting to fade (see i only wish for rss on social media profiles)
I know now some things will be harder, maybe almost impossible, especially if I don’t change some of my internet habits. I’ll have to go about them a different route. Some projects will require a budget. Like saving stuff from my phone, that will probably require either a very shaky solution or a subscription to that Apple Dev thing. I also now know that hosting videos (apart from on YouTube) is not as easy as pie.
But well. I’ll enjoy that feeling while it lasts.
